When Kim Kardashian announced she had filed for divorce last Monday, after only 72 days of marriage, the tabloids went crazy but no one was more shocked than Vera Wang. The popular fashion designer, known for her coveted bridal collections, had signed a contract with David’s Bridal, agreeing to make copies of the wedding gowns Vera had designed for Kim’s wedding, to be mass produced. After Kim’s announcement on Monday, a source claimed, “Everyone was taken for a ride on this one,” including Vera Wang, who’s Kim Kardashian-inspired creations were well into production at that point. Claiming it’s too late to stop production, David’s Bridal has announced the gowns will still be sold, and are due to hit the racks in February. Whether or not future brides will want to buy what have been called “the cursed Kardashian gowns” is still left up in the air, but at this point the bridal boutique would lose more money if they chose not to try. It comes as no surprise however, that the Kardashian-inspired gowns will only be sold in the New York store, excluding all other boutiques, including our Portland and Beaverton locations.
After accusations arose that the celeb married for money over love, Kim quickly defended herself in a heartfelt letter to her fans, denying all of those claims and finally saying, “I’m sorry if I have hurt anyone...”
