Kardashian divorce ignites the LGBT community

By now we have all heard about the Kim Kardashian-Kris Humphries divorce. It is all over the media outlets and has gathered mixed emotions and responses. But one of the most shocking has to be what some recent San Diego LGBT activists have said.

Fernando Lopez a member of the LGBT community and many other activist groups stated:

‘The outrage is derived from the hypocrisy of denying a group their right to marry, when others have this short-term, cavalier approach to a serious commitment.’

Lopez also cites that it is frustrating to be denied legal rights while others have such easy access to marriage rights.

Sean Bohac; a member of San Diego Alliance for Marriage Equality said in this instance, the “sanctity of marriage” has become a wasted term.

This is a surprising stance coming from the LGBT community, to talk about the sanctity of marriage as their whole agenda violates that very sanctity. But what they are right on is the fact that marriage in today’s society is not what it used to be.
