The Kardashian baby name has allegedly been leaked, and it’s shocking that it doesn’t start with a “K.” However, what’s not shocking is that it’s very bizarre. According to a March 20 report by Metro, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are planning on naming their baby North West.
Predictably, everyone is having a good laugh at this ridiculous name choice, but is it really that silly? Directional monikers are actually pretty common, but they usually have a few extra letters tacked on. Easton and Weston are both names that aren’t considered odd at all.
A source revealed that Kanye chose the name North because he has a “sense of humor,” but that’s a little hard to believe since the persecuted genius is known for taking himself so seriously that he feels the need to share an occasional rant with the world. He obviously wants to be taken seriously as a musician, fashion designer, artist, and director, so it’s very unlikely that he’ll turn his child’s name into a joke.
But maybe Kanye just wants to come up with something that will be as crazy and attention-grabbing as what his good friend Jay-Z dreamed up. If Beyoncé and Jay-Z can name their daughter after a color, why can’t Kanye West and Kim Kardashian name theirs after a direction? At least Kanye won’t have to worry about his child growing up to be a fan of boy band One Direction since the Kimye kid will be named after two directions.
If Kanye was really planning on convincing Kim to name their baby North West, he might be a little upset that his grand name plan has been leaked. If he’s looking for ideas that are silly, he could always name the poor kid Key West -- this would also please Kim and her mother since it would keep the “K” name tradition alive, and Key West could be the location of Kim’s next reality show. Kanye should love the island since geniuses like Ernest Hemingway and Tennessee Williams wrote some of their greatest works while living there.
