After dating for less than one year, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are having a baby. The couple, who have been romantically involved for about eight months, announced that Kim Kardashian is 3 months pregnant. Could this be their biggest media whoring event to date? We all know how they both love the camera, the lights, the attention, but.. a baby?

Though she married Kris Humphries, it has been said Reggie Bush was the love of her life; perhaps why, according to TMZ in October 2012, Kanye went nuts on a reporter for asking Kim Kardashian if she wanted to congratulate Reggie Bush on his new baby with his new girlfriend. The media loves a story like this where two celebrities get together and create a buzz. Then as it sizzles and the realities of their relationship set in, they ‘know’ it’s time to create the next big buzz and this one is sure to keep buzzing for at least another 6-8 months.
No matter what the parents do professionally, bringing babies into unstable, unmarried, and new relationships is unhealthy. Both of these parents have a median relationship length of about 15.5 months before there’s a breakup, yet they are having a baby. Relationships are hard enough on working couples in the media. Hollywood couples have little time to get to know each other because they spend so much time working on how to present their relationship to the public. First spending weeks denying it exists (which in itself is unhealthy), secondly, admitting the relationship exists but asking for privacy, and finally, deciding to share bits and pieces of the relationship which allows the public to infer the rest, and to have to make an announcement every time one goes to dinner without the other.
After so many celebrity couples have had to deal with their ups and downs in the public eye one might think they would take a little more time before bringing a child into the turbulence of parenting as public figures . Hopefully, the couple will learn what not to do from the other celebrity parenting mistakes made in the public like Halle Berry and her ex-boyfriend’s suffering co-parenting skills or perhaps Kim and Kanye might be more like Brad and Angelina and have parenting their priority. Though with this couple, it will be interesting to see if baby Kimye is the priority here on those late nights of parenting.
Kanye called Kim his Beyonce and while he denied that statement, it’s interesting that Kim’s pregnancy closes out 2012 leaving the birth of Blue Ivy ( Jay-Z and Beyonce’s baby girl) close to being the 2nd biggest baby news in 2012.
