Karbach, the Houston brewing operation with a large and growing fan base among local craft beer lovers, is ready to introduce another one of its products in canned form, ready for distribution to Houston area stores. The beer is Karbach Barn Burner Saison and it will join Karbach’s Sympathy for the Lager, Weisse versa Wheat, Hopadillo IPA, and Rodeo Clown Double IPA on store shelves across the area.
Barn Burner Saison is a Belgian- style farmhouse ale, a type of beer not well known in the United States in the past, but quickly growing in popularity among American craft breweries. The beer style was named for the farmhands in Belgium who were given this lighter, fruit/spice enhanced beer during the warmer summer months, both for refreshment and sustenance purposes.
Today’s resurgence of farmhouse ales parallels the growing popularity of craft breweries in the United States and Barn Burner Saison continues the farmhouse ale tradition with a beer brewed in close accordance with the style. Karbach brewmaster Eric Warner describes it as follows: "Barn Burner Saison is effervescent and golden in color with hints of citrus and spice, making it a great match for the warm spring we have here in Houston. The beer uses a unique yeast strain and fresh Texas-grown grapefruit zest which gives it an extremely refreshing character without sacrificing depth of flavor."
Barn Burner Saison will hit stores, pubs, and restaurants from March through May. Future seasonal beers at Karbach Brewing include Love Street Summer Brew, a Kolsch- style beer scheduled for release in June.
Expect to see Barn Burner Saison on store shelves starting March 1.
