Houston’s Karbach Brewing is expanding its facility, with plans for increased capacity, added event space and more.

At the end of 2013, Karbach Brewing announced its plans to maintain its current address on Karbach Street, but expand with a new building and other improvements. Karbach made good on its vision just last week, breaking ground on a 1.2 acre tract of land directly adjacent to its current facility. The new building will contain 19,000 square feet of space and, when construction is complete, will include a 120 barrel brewhouse, tasting room, private meeting/event space, and a kitchen. In addition, the business growth will add about 100 new jobs to the local economy.

“We couldn’t be more pleased about this new development for our facility,” said Eric Warner, brewmaster for Karbach. “This is an exciting step forward for Karbach and the new expansion and updated equipment will allow us to increase our reach throughout Texas.”

Karbach Brewing is distributed throughout the local area and in other Texas localities by Silver Eagle Distributing. Demand has been high, and Silver Eagle President and CEO John L. Nau III is very satisfied with Karbach’s progress and plans for the future.

“It has been very rewarding to watch Karbach grow and see their hard work pay off,” said Nau. “We are glad to be one of their partners and are thrilled to watch consumers discover what we have known all along – that Karbach is a great company, with a passion for brewing delicious beers that offer a taste profile for every palate. We couldn’t be happier for them as they continue to grow their company and their fan base.”

Karbach burst upon the Houston beer scene in the fall of 2012 and in 2013, the company produced nearly 19,000 barrels of beer. Projections call for about 29,000 barrels in 2014 and with the expanded facility, Karbach now has capacity to brew more than double the amount of beer currently forecast. The new facility cannot be built a moment too soon as Karbach strives to meet the demands of increasingly finicky craft beer consumers and rapid industry growth.
