Karbach has been on the upswing since day one and was quickly forced to add more brewing equipment to its overflowing facility on Karbach Street in a very short time. Now, continued growth necessitates the addition of even more space and brewing capacity. Rather than relocate, management has decided to expand the present facility by purchasing adjacent properties.
"We're very happy that we are able to grow without relocating entirely”, said Karbach brewmaster Eric Warner. “From an operations standpoint, this allows us to insure quality and consistency during the expansion and it also allows us to be fully committed to development in the city of Houston."
Karbach’s growth has been nothing short of impressive. The company produced 8,169 barrels in 2012 and is on track to churn out approximately 19,000 barrels in 2013. Forecasts for next year call for 29,000 barrels and with the new facility, capacity will be increased to 60,000. The added capacity should be sufficient to keep the company going for a few more years.
Karbach plans to break ground on the new brewing facility in the second quarter of 2014 and complete the expansion in the first quarter of 2015. The new building will not only make way for more brewing equipment, it will also include a kitchen and private meeting space. The expected cost of the new construction is in the neighborhood of $15 million and should help Karbach meet its growing demand.
Craft beer industry growth has been remarkable across the United States over the past few years and Karbach Brewing is at the forefront of this growth spurt, showing no signs of slowing down. With highly acclaimed beer products and such talented individuals working at different positions in the brewery, the Karbach dream team is poised for even greater success in the future. Added brewing capacity and expanded customer service will continue to propel this Houston- based brewing operation toward even greater heights in the coming years.
