'Karate Kid' star's dad wants zip line built at home

A “Karate Kid” star's dad wants a zip line built at his tourist ranch, and it seems this would be one wild ride. Ralph Macchio, Sr., the father of “Karate Kid” and “Dancing With the Starscelebrity Ralph Macchio, Jr., wants to build a 3,500-foot-long zip line at his property in New York. The Adirondack Daily Enterprise shared the details on Jan. 18.

Ralph Macchio, Sr. owns French Mountain and the Wild West Ranch, and he would like to build a zip line to connect the two properties. The “Karate Kid” dad's zip line would be the first of its kind in Adirondack Park, and Macchio has been working on securing approvals for the project for several months. The zip line would include a 34-foot tower atop French Mountain and the ride would have a 700 foot vertical drop.

Though it seems the path isn't entirely cleared yet for construction of the zip line, it looks like things will fall into place and construction will begin in the spring. The “Karate Kid” dad's zip line is part of a $1.5 million project that will also incorporate retail shops, an outdoor amphitheater and parking. Many think this sounds like a fun attraction that will definitely pull in new tourists and adventure-seekers. Would you be game for trying it out?
