The father of "Karate Kid" star Ralph Macchio has a rather strange dream, but one that could end up being really cool. As revealed by The Associated Press on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, Macchio's father wants to build a 3,500-foot-long zip line from an Adirondack mountaintop to his tourist ranch which is located in upstate New York.
The Wild West Ranch owner, Ralph Macchio Sr., is proposing a $1.5 million project which includes a launch platform and tower in Lake George, New York, near the top of French Mountain. Macchio Sr. actually owns that location.
Riders would be drive to the top of the mountain on an existing road. A swath of trees would end up having to be cleared along the route though so that riders could be carried down a vertical drop of 700 feet to his ranch.
Macchio is hoping that the attraction could actually open as soon as this summer, but he is running into a few obstacles.
A few of the nearby landowners are concerned about the visual and noise impacts that could come along with such a project and creation. As of now though, both state and local agencies are reviewing the project of the Karate Kid's father.
