Karaoke venues' complaint about karaoke singers

South Florida's business community is struggling through a difficult economic off season and owners of karaoke venues are not an exception this year. Many club and restaurant owners are complaining that karaoke singers are not supporting the venues that host their favorite hobby.

Owners are cutting hours off shows or canceling shows because they feel the singers are not spending enough money to make it a profitable venture. In the past, a show with 20 singers would provide sufficient sales to keep owners happy. However, if 5 singers order water, while 5 others order a non alcoholic beverage, and none of the singers buy food, the owners don't make any profit and often lose money hosting a show.

Anyone who goes out for a night of entertainment should expect to spend some money, or why go out? Even a night at home watching TV is not free today, so how can anyone expect their favorite form of entertainment to be free?

If singers hope to have bars and restaurants provide karaoke shows in the future, they need to pay their fair share. It is certainly less expensive for a couple to go to a karaoke show than it is to visit a local cinema or comedy club.

If you love to sing karaoke it may be necessary to attend fewer shows each week if your budget won't allow you to support the venue.

Karaoke provides singers with an opportunity to display their talent. Unless singers support the shows they enjoy attending, they will have no opportunities to do this in the near future.
