The American Idol judges are dropping like flies! On Friday, songwriter Kara DioGuardi confirmed that she is no longer going to be a judge on American Idol. DioGuardi had been a judge since 2008. Ironically, a few months ago, there were rumors buzzing that she was fired from the show. Allegedly, DioGuardi is not leaving the show with bitter feelings.
"I felt like I won the lottery when I joined American Idol two years ago, but I feel like now is the best time to leave Idol," DioGuardi said. I am very proud to have been associated with American Idol - it has truly been an amazing experience. I am grateful to FOX, FremantleMedia and 19 Entertainment, as well as the cast, crew and contestants, for all they have given me. I look forward to my next challenge, and want to thank everyone who has supported me. All the best to everyone on Season 10."
Judges Simon Cowell and Ellen Degeneres are also no longer going to be judging for the show. Degeneres had only been a judge for one season, and she said that she couldn't do it anymore because she really didn't like hurting people's feelings and her schedule was just too busy.
Simon Fuller - the show creator and executive producer - said that he will miss working with DioGuardi, but "looks forward to working with her in music for many years to come."
The only old American Idol judge left at this point is Randy Jackson.
There have been several celebrities that have been rumored to be American Idol judges, which include Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler, Shania Twain, and Elton John.
