Maybach

About the Maybach
Available in 57-inch and 62-inch wheelbase versions, the massive Maybach was Mercedes-Benz's response to the rebirth of Rolls-Royce under BMW's ownership. It was conceived when the world was rolling in money and enjoyed early successes, but the massive price tag and lack of brand recognition in markets like the United States hurt sales. Like Duesenberg and Packard, the Maybach brand was a ultra luxury brand that saw its heyday prior to World War II, only the car was never marketed here - only in Germany, so nobody here had ever heard of it. Mercedes' decision to launch its S-Class as a virtual clone to the uber sedan didn't help.

Maybach
While Mercedes never asked me, I contended from the brand's launch that it should rebrand all the AMG vehicles over $100k to help create a broader model line for Maybach AND help increase the brand equity for AMG super performance cars, but's they obviously didn't and don't care what my thoughts are.
