Kanye West takes credit for Taylor Swift's fame
Kanye West recently revealed that he believes he boosted Taylor Swift's fame. West claims the thinks Taylor Swift's fame skyrocketed after his now infamous VMA speech takeover.
Kanye West is at it again. This time he's telling people he's to blame for Taylor Swift's blossoming career. Kanye says that he actually made Taylor Swift more famous when his MTV VMA antics in 2009. What Kanye didn't cite as the cause however, was Taylor's immense talent and huge fanbase.
According to Hollyscoop, Kanye said, “I feel like when Taylor was getting all those magazine covers, she was all good then. I feel completely empathetic and sympathize with that moment of her feeling bad, that spawned her to have one million magazine covers and be the most popular artist in the world, but in that moment of her feeling bad, I do feel bad about being the cause of that.”
That incident may have earned Taylor Swift some more media time, but doesn't compete with the real reason for her fame, great talent and great fans. Swift's career did take off even more after the VMA's, but who's to say it wouldn't have anyway?
Kanye West's career however, went into a slump after the 2009 Video Music Awards, and he nearly disappeared for months. West took major heat from critics, fans, and the media for his antics. In 2010 Taylor Swift and Kanye West both performed songs at the VMA's acknowledging the incident that will go down as one of MTV's most shocking moments.
