Hip-hop star Kanye West isn’t shy when it comes to collaborations or new projects. As MTV news reports on Feb. 18, the “Yeezus” creator is turning to no other than “American Psycho” author Bret Easton Ellis to write the screenplay to a mysterious film he is working on.

Of course, details of the project are top secret, but the fact that Kanye has turned to Ellis can only mean something big. Both are artists who are not afraid to take risks and both are artists who are certainly not afraid of controversy. In a recent interview with Vice.com, Ellis talked about how the project came to be.

“He came and asked me to write the film. I didn’t want to at first. Then I listened to ‘Yeezus’. It was early summer last year and I was driving in my car. He’d given me an advance copy and I thought, regardless of whether I’m right for this project, I want to work with whoever made this. So f—k it, I said yes. And that’s how it happened. That was seven or eight months ago. We’ll see what happens.”

If the copy inspired that kind of reaction out of a famed writer such as Ellis, then fans of either artist are in for a treat and critics can only anticipate what’s up their sleeves. And it isn’t the first time the two have collaborated. A year ago they worked together on a viral spoof video inspired by “American Psycho”.

Hit or miss it will be interesting to see what these two come up with. One thing is for sure. Whatever it is will by hyped up by both artists.
