Kanye West poses like Jesus with Kim Kardashian: Offensive or cute?

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian are currently vacationing in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, so of course the couple had to visit the famous Christ the Redeemer statue. However, according to a Feb. 9 report by Hollywood Life, their decision to pose like the giant Jesus figure has offended a few people.

In photos of their trip, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West can be seen smiling with their arms outstretched. They kind of look like they’re imitating Rose and Jack from “Titanic” at first glance, but they’re actually striking the same pose as the Christ the Redeemer statue. So are they trying to send some kind of message to the world with these photos?

Maybe Kanye and Kim think that being criticized on a daily basis is like being crucified, or maybe they believe that their baby will be the second coming or something (sorry, Blue Ivy). One Twitter user did write of their pose, “I’ve heard that Kanye and Kim’s baby is the second coming of Jesus…” It’s surprising that the photo hasn’t sparked any Illuminati talk yet.

However, it’s more likely that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s decision to imitate a giant Jesus statue didn’t mean anything at all. They were probably just posing for a silly vacation photo, or maybe they’re hoping to start the next crazy posing trend. Say goodbye to planking and hello to redeeming.

Kim goes to church and attends Bible study, and Kanye sings about his faith in songs like “Jesus Walks,” so it’s pretty obvious that the believers weren’t trying to offend other Christians.

However, maybe they should think before imitating religious figures. Kim shouldn’t dress up like the Hindu goddess Kali for a sexy photo shoot, and Kanye shouldn’t have his models wear crowns of thorns and drag crosses down the runway for his next fashion show, especially since he's already dressed up like Jesus himself. Perhaps believers also better start praying that the couple doesn’t name their baby “Khrist.”

So do you think that Kim and Kanye’s Christ the Reedemer pose is offensive?
