Kanye West dumps Nike, but Kim still wears the Nike brand

Kanye West may have dumped Nike, but girlfriend Kim Kardashian hasn't ditched her Nike clothes in favor of Adidas ones. In fact, she wore leggings with the Nike logo on them to a meeting with Adidas.

Rapper, Kanye West, signed with Nike to sell his Air Yeezy sneakers. At a concert stop in Brooklyn, Kayne told his fans that he signed a deal a week and a half ago. No one knew what Kanye was talking about until November 25, 2013. According to Chuba, Kanye elaborated with Angie Martinez, radio host from New York's Hot 97 about his new deal. He said that he's dropped the Nike contract and signed with Adidas.

Nike is a name brand that many athletes endorse, but it wasn't lucrative enough for Kanye even though he admitted to loving Nike. However that doesn't mean much when another company agrees to give you more money. Kanye will receive $10 million endorsement from Adidas.

When Hot 97's, Angie Martinez asked Kanye why he was dumping Nike, he replied that Nike wasn't going to pay him any royalties. Apparently they reserve their royalty payments for professional athletes, not rappers. Kanye became further disgusted with Nike when they didn't know when his shoes, Air Yezzy 'Red Octobers' would be released.

Kanye said, “The old me without a daughter might have taken the Nike deal cause I just love Nikes so much . . . But the new me with a daughter, takes the Adidas deal, cause I have royalties-and I have to provide for my family.”

No one can accuse Kanye of not being ambitious or having a low self esteem.. He plans on being the 'Tupack of the Product,' but he doesn't stop there. He also told Angie Martinez “I’m going to be the first Hip Hop designer and because of that I’mma be bigger than Walmart.”

Adidas gave this statement. “For 2014, we welcome to the adidas family one of the most influential cultural icons of this generation, Kanye West. Well known for breaking boundaries across music, film and design and partnering with our history in street wear culture and leading innovations in sport, we look forward to creating a new chapter. Details to follow.”

Some fans of Kanye agree that he made a wise decision in dumping Nike, while others say Nike is better off without the controversial rap star. What do you think.
