Beyoncé recently made headlines by trying to get unflattering photos of her Super Bowl performance removed from the web, and it looks like she might have gotten the idea to do this from Jay-Z’s collaborator Kanye West. According to a Feb. 8 report by the Daily Mail, Yeezy demanded that photos of himself wearing a skirt be removed from Getty Images’ picture database.
The photos in question feature Kanye West wearing a leather skirt designed by his pal Riccardo Tisci and were taken at the 12-12-12 Hurricane Sandy benefit concert. Yeezy became the butt of many jokes by wearing the warrior-like kilt, but it’s odd that he’s suddenly become so sensitive about being seen it since he’s worn it before. Kanye also wore the kilt during a 2011 Watch the Throne concert.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are about to have a baby, so maybe Yeezy doesn’t want his son or daughter to be embarrassed when they discover the photos of their daddy wearing a skirt. So it looks like Kim won’t be producing a line of unisex Kimye diaper kilts anytime soon.
It’s also possible that Kanye asked for the photos to be removed because his next clothing line is going to include a leather skirt for men. Perhaps he’s planning to wear his own design from now on and doesn’t want the world to remember that he used to wear another man’s kilt creation.
Or maybe Kanye is feeling insecure after being bullied by his fellow musicians. Chris Brown has poked fun at Yeezy’s edgy fashion choice, and rapper Lord Jamar wrote this line about Kanye in his song “Lift Up Your Skirt:” “He introduced the skinny jeans to the rap scene/Then he wore a f*****g skirt on the video screen/Then he wore it again at a memorial/I can't pretend this s**t ain't deplorable.”
It’s a little silly that Kanye’s skirt is getting so much hate since it actually looks pretty masculine. It’s like an updated version of Roman warrior wear, and Brad Pitt can be seen wearing this style of manly skirt in the movie "Troy." Kanye has worn designs that are way more feminine, including women’s blouses and animal print. If Prince can get away with wearing lace and ruffles, then why can’t the world accept Yeezy’s breezy wardrobe staple?
So why do you think that Yeezy is trying to have the skirt photos removed? And do you think that Kanye and Beyoncé have started a new diva trend by trying to get their photos scraped from the web?
