The rumors involving Kanye West are indeed true. The man otherwise known as Yeezus will embark upon his first headlining solo tour in five years, and he's already recruited hip-hop savior Kendrick Lamar as the tour's opening act.
"The Yeezus Tour" is slated to start on October 19th in Seattle, and will run seven weeks hitting most major North American markets. Lamar is scheduled to open on most of the tour's dates, but not all. It's yet to be determined who will fill in for Lamar on the three dates he isn't opening; perhaps West will fill the extra time himself, or he may have a surprise opening act somewhere up his sleeve.
If West's performances on "The Yeezus Tour" will be anything like his recent VMA and SNL performances, then audiences can expect an intense concert experience.
West's previous solo tour in 2008, "The Glow In The Dark Tour," was an epic hip-hop spectacle that featured Nas, Rhianna, N.E.R.D., and Lupe Fiasco as his openers. This time around, it appears Kanye is taking a simpler, stripped-down approach; which mirrors the approach he took in recording his most recent album, Yeezus.
Tickets to "The Yeezus Tour" go on sale on Friday, September 13th. For a complete list of tour dates and ticket information, visit kanyewest.com.
