Kanye was booed at Bonnaroo for his rage outbursts against the press while his wife Kim Kardashian stayed backstage in her see-through top showing off her one-year post pregnancy body. The video of Kanye being booed on stage at Bonnaroo shows fans leaving while West continues his rants. Even though fans of Kanye West or Kim Kardashian are used to the couple’s way of getting publicity and attention, some of the 100,000 fans at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival were less impressed by the act, reported the Toronto Sun on June 14.
Bonnaroo is an annual four-day music and entertainment event created and produced by Superfly Presents and AC Entertainment. The event takes place on a 700-acre farm in Manchester in Tennessee.
According to fans, West was on stage for two hours on Friday night giving the kind of performance that festival goers had been looking forward to. However, since giving a musical presentation is apparently not enough, West added a bit of spice to his stage presence.
“I ain’t going after nobody on the radio, I’m going after Shakespeare. I’m going after Walt Disney. I’m going after Howard Hughes and Genghis Khan.” Besides adding his name to names like Shakespeare and Walt Disney, the singer also compared himself to music legends like Jimi Hendrix and John Lennon.
Fans familiar with West know his hatred of the radio and the press. Many fans are also used to Kanye's narcissistic expressions, self-promotion, and foul language. "Where the press at?" West said repeatedly. "F*** the press." "Y'all wrote that sh** in the press," he added. "Is y'all gonna write all these motherf***ers putting their hands up right now ... this is real rock 'n roll."
Apparently, some concert goers weren’t quite impressed by the singer’s 10-minute rage and foul language, and they booed Kanye off the Bonnaroo stage. Since West was mostly done with his two-hour musical performance, he might have thought that his outburst added to his performance, but some of his fans expressed on Twitter that this was a bit too much.
“Did you hear that Kanye was booed off the stage at Bonnaroo? No #Yeezus,” wrote one fan.
“Only Kanye West would say that he’s releasing a new single at a music fest and then get booed #Bonnaroo,” wrote another disappointed fan.
In 2008, Kanye was also booed off the Bonnaroo stage, but back then it was in the middle of his act. Following his aggressive attack on the press six years ago, the organizers of the festival decided not to invite the rapper back until now. Allegedly, organizers wanted to give the “Yeezus” star another chance. In 2008, “organizers responded by not inviting West back to the festival, but as he continued to grow in popularity the committee had to try to invite him back to redeem himself,” reported Liberty Voice.
While her husband was stunning most fans with his on-stage performance (rants included), Kim Kardashian drew attention in her own way at the Bonnaroo festival. Dressed in a see-through top, white jeans, an olive jacket, and high heels, Kim wasn't exactly dressed for a muddy festival setting. But she was there to support her husband and certainly left quite an impression.
Despite the media coverage and publicity that Kanye West received for being booed off the Bonnaroo stage, fans thought that Kim Kardashian’s appearance still outshone her husband’s temper tantrum. A spray-painted fence near the festival read, “Dear Kanye, Kim gave a better performance.”
