Kanye booed as he entertained by ranting, not rapping

It seems that Kanye West doesn’t learn from his mistakes. Once again, the rapper went into a 20-minute rant causing fans to boo him, loudly.

According to the Mirror, on July 4, 2014, Kanye preformed at the Wireless Festival in London. In the middle of his set, Kanye wearing a studded mask began to rant about fame, consumerism, and discrimination in the fashion industry. A black and white video of a waterfall was shown behind him. Piano music played in the background as Kanye got into one of his rants and couldn’t seem to stop.

Kanye was the headline act for the Wireless Festival. Other artists who were in the festival were Ella Eyre, Foxes, and Pharrnell Williams. No one drove the fans out in droves as Kanye West allegedly did.

The Mirror reports that instead of entertaining the fans with his music, he spent more time “preaching.” At one point, he said, "I'm not going to mention any names but... Nike, Louis Vuitton and Gucci. Don't discriminate against me 'cos I'm a black man making music." Then he added, "F**k saving face and what it's supposed to mean, it's about living my dream."

One person who attended Kanye’s performance told The Daily Mail, "Kanye was laying into the 'machine' and ranting about the public's perception of him. Hundreds of people left the park early because they were so bored of his long rant."

People voiced their not-so-kind thoughts on Twitter. One Wireless Festival goer tweeted a warning, "If anyone is going to wireless tomorrow GET A REFUND! Kanye sings for 20 minutes then literally does a speech for 35 minutes!!"

Kanye West headlined another music event on July 5, 2014. He was assigned to take the place of Drake. No word on how that festival went, yet, but if he repeated his performance of ranting instead of rapping, he may not have the reception he wanted.

Drake released this statement, "To my beloved fans, it truly breaks my heart that I won't be able to perform as planned at Wireless and Roskilde this weekend. I got sick a few days ago and although I am on my way to bouncing back, my doctors have made it clear that I am not physically fit to fly or deliver the performance my fans expect and deserve from me.

'I will be focused on resting for a quick recovery. I have the best fans in the world and I can't wait to come back to make more incredible memories together.”

This isn’t the first time that Kanye received boos from the audience. It’s almost become part of every performance. Perhaps he has discovered a new form of PR for himself?

Kanye West married Kim Kardashian on May 24, 2014. They have one daughter together, North who recently turned 1-year-old.
