It didn't matter where the games were; the #7 Jayhawks took it to #6 Baylor in Lawrence and Waco, Texas. Rankings by AP pole.
Each game resulted in Kansas winning by double digits and Baylor looking owned by the Jayhawks. Kansas seems to have Baylor's number regardless of rankings or Baylor's talent level. Is it an inferiority complex, funk or does Kansas get up for each Baylor game?
Baylor falls to 8-2 in the Big 12 while Kansas keeps pace with Missouri at 9-2.
Kansas fell behind as much as 10 points in the first half, but with the explosion of scoring from Jeff Withey, the Hawks sored past the Bears to a 3 point lead before half time. After half time, Kansas put the hammer down to lead as much as 21 points before winning 68-54.
Withey returned to the scoring lineup with a career high of 25 points. Good thing since Thomas Robinson only clocked in with 15 points (which is low for him). Tyshawn Taylor added 19 points while the rest of the team only scored 9 points. Let's say that again, the rest of the team only scored 9 points. Kansas poured on some strong defense minus the last 5 minutes of the game to keep Baylor scoring low. Lucky for the Jayhawks offensive output, the defense is always strong.
February 25 is looming large as that will be the date the Missouri Tigers make their way to Allen Fieldhouse for the last time in the near term. That could possibly be the game to decide the Big 12 winner. Minus any toe-stub games for either team, KU and MU should have the same conference record to battle it out for the conference.
If only they could get some scoring help from the rest of the bench.
