Located in historical downtown Olathe, Kansas Coffee Café offers coffee drinks and a variety of breakfast and lunch items, all of which are locally sourced . Owners Chris and Crystal Grohs purchased the café in 2011 and are open Mondays - Saturdays. The café is located adjacent to the Johnson County Courthouse. The majority of their customers are from the businesses located within walking distance.
However, they have seen a surge in business on Saturdays from locals that live in the area. Kansas Coffee Café offers traditional espresso drinks as well as the more popular handcrafted espresso drinks. The Steamboat (espresso, cinnamon, white chocolate and steamed milk) is a favorite. The Lewis & Clark is made with espresso, raspberry, chocolate, and steamed milk and would not be complete without whipped cream.
Chris and Crystal offer muffins, scones, quiche and a hot breakfast sandwich appropriately named “The Rooster.” Bacon, cheese and a fried egg stuffed inside a toasted croissant is all you need to start your day right. If you are in the area for lunch, there is a sandwich for everyone on the menu.
The Jayhawk, a chicken salad with apples and pecans topped with provolone cheese on a croissant or the Club Plaza, smoked turkey, bacon, Gouda cheese, sprouts, lettuce and cranberry spread are two best sellers.
The newest edition to the lunch menu is a Rueben sandwich named The Chief. Corned beef, Swiss cheese, Thousand Island dressing with sour kraut mixed together on marble rye is sure to be a hit with the lunch crowd.
