Here’s a list of dog-related activities happening through Sunday in the Kansas City metro.

Friday, March 22

On Friday, KCMO pet owners can get a free rabies vaccination/microchip package for their pets with the $10 purchase of a KCMO pet license. The clinic will be at Spay & Neuter Kansas City (1116 E. 59th St., KCMO) from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. No appointment is needed. Call 816-353-0940 or visit the SNKC website for more details.

Friday March 22 through Sunday, March 24

Bulldog enthusiasts may enjoy the Bulldog specialties at the Quality Inn at 4200 S. Noland Road in Independence. The Heart of America Bulldog Club is hosting the Friday and Saturday specialties, while the Bulldog Club of America (Division VI) hosts the Sunday show. The Friday show starts at 6 p.m.; the Saturday show begins at 9 a.m., and the Sunday show commences at 8 a.m. Only dogs entered in the shows should be at the site.

Saturday, March 23

The Johnson County Park and Recreation District kicks off its Walk a Hound, Lose a Pound program this weekend. Participants in the shelter dog-walking program will meet at Great Plains SPCA (5428 Antioch Drive, Merriam) on Saturdays at 9 a.m. They’ll walk shelter dogs either at Hickory Hills Park or the nearby Turkey Creek Trail. Only the shelter dogs will be allowed on these walks. Call 913-826-3160 to sign up. The program ends April 27. Due to the possibility of inclement weather on Saturday, participants are asked to call the JCPRD inclement weather hotline after 8 a.m. that day before going to Great Plains SPCA. That number is 913-312-8834.

Between noon and 3 p.m., head to Queen of Paws Boutique & Spa (4515 W. 90th St., Prairie Village) for an Easter pet photo. The event benefits Unleashed Pet Rescue and Adoption.

Here’s another Easter-themed photo opportunity. You can get your pet’s photo taken with the Easter Bunny between noon and 4 p.m. at the Northland location of Pete and Mac’s (5860 N.W. Prairie View Road, KCMO). While you’re there, enjoy some goodies at the bake sale. Proceeds from the bake sale benefit the Friends of Parkville Animal Shelter trap/neuter/return program.

Postponements: Due to inclement weather in the forecast, three of the events scheduled for this weekend have been moved. The Treats Unleashed Easter Party will now be on Saturday, March 30 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Three Dog Bakery Easter Begg Hunt has moved to that same day, beginning at noon. And Dogs on the Lawn at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art has been postponed to Saturday, April 6 from 1 to 4 p.m.
