Here’s a list of dog-related events happening through Presidents Day in the Kansas City metro.
Tuesday, Feb. 12; Monday, Feb. 18
Join the party at Pete and Mac’s Pet Resort when the business hosts “yappy hour” benefits for the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City. Enjoy drinks and snacks, and enter the raffle. A $5 donation is suggested. HSGKC would also appreciate an item from its wish list. Tuesday’s event will be at the Pete and Mac’s in Lenexa (8809 Monrovia; see the flyer). The event on Feb. 18 will be at the Lee’s Summit location (600 N.E. Pavestone Drive; see the flyer). Both events are from 4 to 7 p.m. This event repeats on Feb. 20 at the Northland location.
Saturday, Feb. 16
Prairie Paws Animal Shelter will have its “SPAY”Ghetti Dinner & Pie Auction from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church parish center (426 S. Cedar St., Ottawa).
Hamburger Mary’s (101 Southwest Blvd., KCMO) hosts charity bingo for Furry Kids’ Refuge from 5 to 7 p.m.
TV alert! The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is Monday, Feb. 11 and Tuesday, Feb. 12. Television coverage will begin at 7 p.m. CST both days. The show will air on CNBC on Feb. 11 and on USA on Feb. 12. You can also watch live streaming video of the breed judging on the club website, westminsterkennelclub.org, during the day.
