Kansas City dogs: Events this weekend

Here’s a list of dog-related events happening this weekend in the Kansas City metro.

Friday, Feb. 8

Join the Missouri Alliance for Animal Legislation at its fifth annual Mardi Growl Maskgrrrade Party from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. at Berg Event Space (1525 Grand Blvd., KCMO). Advance tickets are available online for $40, or you can buy them at the door for $50. MAAL says if you make a $65 ticket donation, an anonymous donor will match it. The organization also has a special offer for animal rescue groups: five tickets for $100. Group tickets must be bought in advance by contacting Amy at 314-852-8630 or mail@maal.org. The night includes food, “howlicanes” and other beverages, music by the Holmes Street Band, tarot card readings, face painting and silent/live auctions.

Saturday, Feb. 9

Kristen Saluto Photography will be at Queen of Paws Boutique & Spa (4515 W. 90th St., Prairie Village) from noon to 3 p.m. to take Valentine’s Day-themed photos of your pet. Photos are $10. The event benefits Unleashed Pet Rescue and Adoption.

Sunday, Feb. 10

The Friends of Parkville Animal Shelter Art for the Heart of the Shelter will be from noon to 4 p.m. at Northland Exposure Artists’ Gallery (110 Main St., Parkville). The gallery will donate 20 percent of the proceeds to FOPAS.
