Kansas City dogs: Events this week

Here’s a list of dog-related events this week in the Kansas City metro.

Wednesday, Feb. 20

Join the party at Pete and Mac’s Pet Resort in the Northland (5860 N.W. Prairie View Road, KCMO) when the business hosts a “yappy hour” for the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City. Enjoy drinks and snacks, and enter the raffle. A $5 donation is suggested. HSGKC would also appreciate an item from its wish list. The event is from 4 to 7 p.m.

The Animal Rescue Alliance (TARA) invites you to a Premier Designs jewelry showing. Twenty-five percent of all sales go to TARA. The showing begins at 6:30 p.m. at Blue Pearl VSEC (11950 W. 110th St., Overland Park).

Wednesday, Feb. 20 through Sunday, Feb. 24

Two local California Pizza Kitchen locations (4743 Pennsylvania Ave., KCMO; 11655 Ash St., Leawood) will donate 20 percent of the cost of your order to the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City. You must present this flyer to your server in order for HSGKC to receive the donation. Purchases include dine-in orders, takeout, catering and all beverages.

Saturday, Feb. 23

Northland Animal Welfare Society will celebrate World Spay Day and the first anniversary of the NAWS low-cost spay/neuter clinic with special prices on spay/neuter/vaccination services. The event runs from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the clinic (3400 N.W. Vivion Road, Riverside). As of last Saturday, there were still spay/neuter availabilities for cats and a few small dogs (dogs under 50 pounds). To make an appointment, contact NAWS at 816-336-1188 or 800-408-5191.
