2010 NFL Draft review: Kansas City Chiefs A lot of people are down on the Kansas City Chiefs draft, I am not one of them. With the fifth overall pick they might have gotten the best player in this draft. Some may say that they took them because of the value, but this team needed defensive playmakers and Eric Berry is certainly that. In the second round, they added a dynamic playmaker who may pose match up problems for their opponents. |

2010 Kansas City Chiefs draft class The draft fell kind of perfect for the Kansas City Chiefs. Heading into the draft they were looking to add playmakers to the offense, defense, and special teams. There was no need to get really fancy, just take the players that were there to take and move up when the team feels it needed too. |

Draft Day decision makers: Kansas City Chiefs The Kansas City Chiefs hired Scott Pioli to be their General Manager, a year ago to do one thing, to help this team draft better. In the 2005 to 2007 drafts the Chiefs not only netted three starters, but only four backups. The Chiefs are a bad football team because their drafting as been so bad. |

2009 NFL Draft one year later: Kansas City Chiefs While we always say the best way to build up a team is through the draft, there is a pattern emerging here. So far three of the teams that picked in the top five in the 2009 draft are picking in the top five of the 2010 draft. This seems to suggest either there was more than one draft’s worth of work to be done, or that bad NFL teams made bad NFL decisions. I leave that to all of you to figure out amongst yourselves. |

Fix the franchise: Kansas City Chiefs edition The Kansas City Chiefs got it pretty easy, they don't need to redo their front office, or find a new coaching staff. They just need to find some better players. That sounds a little crass but this is a team that has won just six games over the last two years, and ten over the last three. By ways of comparison that is just one more win in the last three years than the Detroit Lions who went winless in 2008. The challenge for the Chiefs is finding players that they can build around, and it sounds easy but is actually quite hard. |

What should the Kansas City Chiefs do with the fifth overall pick? It seems the plan for the Kansas City Chiefs is the most set in stone heading towards the NFL Draft. They have one primary need, and the pick to make that need happen. |

2009 NFL season in review: Kansas City Chiefs Kind of a weird season for Kansas City Chiefs. The offensive coordinator was fired before the season got going, the Head Coach and the star running back got into an argument over Twitter, and ultimately the team was torn down to be rebuilt as the New England Patriots of the west. There are so many ex-Patriots on the staff here now that one could not throw a rock around their practice facility without hitting one. However, if these men can somehow reform this team; they have every chance of being great. The 2009 season was not great, more of a struggle but hopefully better things are on the horizon. |

Charlie Weis to become Chiefs Offensive Coordinator He may have been fired in disgrace for the University of Notre Dame, but Charlie Weis is returning to a job for which he is far better suited. The Kansas City Chiefs, or the New England Patriots of the west, have reached an agreement to hire Weis as their offensive coordinator. Weis’ last gig in that capacity was with the Patriots, and all he did there was win three Super Bowls. In fact Weis is the man behind the legend that has become Tom Brady, and he will turn the Kansas City Chiefs into contenders. |

Could the Chiefs release Larry Johnson? Many NFL fans expected Chad Ochocinco to be the first player to get in trouble with his Twitter account. However Kansas City Chiefs Running Back Larry Johnson has become the first player to be told to stay away from his team, after using a gay slur, and talking down his Coach Todd Haley on his Twitter account. Now the NFL is looking into possible discipline actions against the player, and the Chiefs may look to cut him as soon as this week. |

Chiefs lose Cassel for 2-4 weeks Kansas City Chiefs QB Matt Cassel has a sprained MCL and is likely to miss two to four weeks while it heals. Cassel injured his knee when he was sacked on the third play of a pre-season game Saturday night against the Seattle Seahawks. This injury is likely to continue the debate over how many pre-season games are necessary, and may unravel the Chiefs season before it begins. |

2009 Kansas City Chiefs Draft analysis Without a doubt, the Kansas City Chiefs are in the beginning stages of an overall rebuilding phase. They have new people in every key leadership position and are looking to build a strong team from the inside out. |
