The Kane County Cougars, single-A affiliates of the Kansas City Royals, announced that a deal made between the Royals and the Detroit Tigers has created a few clubhouse changes for the team. Pitcher Antonio Cruz, from the West Michigan Whitecaps will now be on the Cougars. Catcher Paul Krebs, meanwhile, will be headed for the disabled list.

The move was part of a three player deal between the two major league teams. The deal involved Kansas City infielder Wilson Betemit who was sent to Detroit. Also involved was another minor leaguer, Julio Rodriguez.

The Cougars are in the middle of a three-game set against the Whitecaps. Essentially, Cruz is switching clubhouses directly across from him. He will be active for the Cougars during tonight’s game.

Cruz has spent his entire professional career with the Whitecaps. He has a 2-6 record so far in 2011 and a 3.11 ERA. He has pitched in 22 games so far and has had 10 starts. He was drafted by Detroit back in 2009.

The Kane County Cougars are a professional minor league baseball team. They are in the Midwest League and have won a single championship in their team history. That championship was back in 2001.
