Kane Brewery, a Local Craft Brewery featured at Salt Creek Grille

New Jersey native Michael Kane, founder of Kane Brewing Company in 2011, will host a craft beer tasting dinner with brews paired with a special four-course menu prepared by Executive Chef Bob Belt and Sous Chef Michael Keating at Salt Creek Grille, Rumson on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 6:30 p.m.

“It’s the perfect beer for us to spotlight,” said Steve Bidgood, Regional Partner for Salt Creek Grille, Rumson and Princeton. “It is special because our new menu items focus on locally sourced products and seasonal foods. The remainder of the new dishes will be on our menu in late January. Ever since we opened in 1998, we have been supporting local businesses that meet our level of quality, service and consistency. Kane is producing some super brews.”

Additionally Kane’s Drift Line Oatmeal Brown Ale is on tap at Salt Creek Grille for the month of January. On Tuesday nights all draught beers are half price all night in both the bar and main dining room.   The menu is as follows:

  • First Course: Wild Mushroom Gnocchi with Leeks, Kale and Sage, paired with Kane After Glow Rye Pale Ale.
  • Second Course: Mesquite Pork Tenderloin with Ancho Chili Dry Rub and Butternut Squash, paired with Kane Head High IPA
  • Third Course: Braised Short Ribs with Goat Cheese Polenta and sautéed Chard paired with Kane Drift Line Oatmeal Brown Ale.
  • Fourth Course: Coffee and Vanilla Semifreddo with Orange Almond Biscotti, paired with Kane Cockburn Tawny Port.

Kane’s passion for craft brewing began in the 1990s while he attended college in New England, when he began brewing beer as a hobby in his home. Simultaneously he made excursions to Vermont to “study and taste” award-winning beers from Magic Hat, Otter Creek and Long Trail Brewery, Hill Farmstead Brewery and Long Trail Brewing Company. Kane made the leap and established his brewery in Ocean, New Jersey, and began distribution of his American and Belgian style ales to restaurants and bars last year.

This special craft beer paired with Salt Creek Grille’s fine menu is $53 per person exclusive of tax and gratuity. Each guest with a pre-paid ticket will receive a $20 reward card with no expiration date to be used in Salt Creek Grille’s main dining room. Beer pairing dinners are very popular, so book your reservation early and call 732.933.9272.
