The feud between “Real Housewives of Atlanta” cast members Kandi Burruss and Kim Zolciak has taken an even nastier turn. After publicly trading insults via social media, the former best friends will soon be facing off in court. According to “US Weekly”, Burruss filed a lawsuit against Zolciak on March 12th for royalties related to the song “Don’t be Tardy for the Party”. The legal papers were filed by Burruss’ fellow cast member and attorney Phaedra Parks.
The papers ask for a temporary restraining order to stop the sale and distribution of the record while the matter is being settled. The song was previously taken down in December from ITunes when Burruss attempted legal action. However, Zolciak claims that she was able to provide documentation that allowed a repackaged version of the song to be re released on ITunes.
Burruss and Zolciak previously discussed the issues with the song during a reunion show two years ago when Burruss admitted to not being paid for the song and tearfully confronted her then friend for not compensating her for the song. Zolciak said that she planned to compensate Burruss but according to legal documents, that never happened.
“Don’t be Tardy for the Party” has not only become a #1 single but is also the title of Zolciak’s spin off show which will begin its second season next month. The lawsuit also comes at the same time that the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” film their reunion show where both Burruss and Zolciak are expected to attend.
