Kandi Burruss and Cynthia Bailey deny NeNe Leakes' power over 'RHOA'

NeNe Leakes may or may not be returning to season seven of "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" as a starring housewife but one thing's for sure - some of her co-stars believe that she can be fired from the show just like any of them. As reported by Wetpaint Entertainment on Monday, May 12, Kandi Burruss and Cynthia Bailey recently talked about NeNe's influence and power, or lack thereof, over the show.

While being interviewed for a radio show, the host asked Kandi and Cynthia if they feel as if NeNe would have them fired. Both found the question ludicrous, especially Kandi, who sarcastically asked, “Are you kidding me?” to the question. Cynthia chimed in, saying that while she respects NeNe for being the housewife who has been on the show the longest, NeNe is not a Bravo executive but rather just a housewife on contract just like her, Kandi, Phaedra Parks, Kenya Moore, and Porsha Stewart.

Kandi added that the show is a success because of all of the housewives, not just NeNe. She pointed out that ratings for the show have increased every year since it began so all of the housewives "can say that they brought something to the table," a clear reference to NeNe's assertion on "Watch What Happens Live" that Cynthia doesn't bring anything to the table and thus should be fired from the show.

Kandi even went into specifics, saying that when the show started, it had only about one million viewers but when she joined, viewer numbers doubled. She claimed that when Cynthia and her husband Peter Thomas joined, the numbers went up even more. "So let’s be for real about this," Kandi said.

Dealing with NeNe Leakes' diva-ish behavior is something that Kandi Burruss, Cynthia Bailey and the rest of the housewives may no longer need to do. There are reports that Bravo and Andy Cohen, tired of NeNe's demands, have decided to not renew her contract as a starring housewife for season seven. NeNe, however, isn't bothered. On Saturday, May 10, she tweeted that she's laughing at all of the rumors.
