Kama Ruby at Imbibe this Friday, Jan. 28, 2011

Local actress/vocalist Kama Ruby will be making her first appearance at Imbibe Wine and Spirits Merchant this Friday, Jan., 28, at 6:30 - 9:30 PM. Although not appearing with her band (Kama Ruby and Company), she'll be singing jazz standards, songs from artists as diverse as Sade and Steely Dan, and her own jazzy twists to classic rock tunes. If you haven't heard her before, you're in for a very pleasant and different experience as she demonstrates that jazz isn't just for the "straight-ahead" crowd.

The event is part of Imbibe's Jazz Connection series, in which a different set of jazz musicians perform every Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday evenings. Jazz Connection was organized by Steve Eisen, CEO of the Bakersfield Jazz Workshop, who will be backing Kama on trumpet for this performance.
