Kama Ruby and Company at The Padre tonight, June 7

It's Jazz and Martinis and Taco Tuesday night at The Padre Hotel, as Kama Ruby and Company return to the 2nd floor rooftop Prairie Fire lounge tonight. If you didn't get a chance to catch them last month, here's another opportunity to hear their unique twists on jazz and rock classics. In particular, they do an eerie version of Radiohead's "Weird Fishes" and a sultry take on Blind Faith's "Can't Find My Way Home."

If you were one of the lucky ones at last month's show, you heard a never-rehearsed cover of The Eagles' "Hotel California" like none done before. Mix in some Lou Reed ("Walk on the Wild Side"), Tom Petty ("Breakdown"), as well as some acid jazz and jazz ballads, and the band gives you an experience that is unlike that of any other in the area. No one sounds like them.

Put together by local actress and jazz vocalist Kama Ruby, the band features some of the area's finest musicians. Joining Kama tonight will be Robin Bramlett on bass, Brett Cox on guitar, and Canaan McDuffie on drums.
