Kalamazoo woman shot in arm by boyfriend after fight

A 26-year old Kalamazoo woman was shot by her boyfriend after an argument on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2012. She arrived at Bronson Hospital in the afternoon, where hospital staff contacted Kalamazoo Public Safety officers to file charges.

The woman alleges that her 23-year old boyfriend had picked her up and subsequently beat her with a handgun before shooting her in the arm. He then gave her a ride to the hospital and left her there for medical treatment.

Officers were able to apprehend the suspect in the area of Forbes and Jefferson Avenue.

The suspect is still in custody and is being charged with the following:

  • Assault with Intent to Murder
  • Felony firearm
  • Felony in possession of a firearm
  • Violation of a conditional bond

The suspect is being held at the Kalamazoo County Jail. His case has been sent to the prosecutor's office for review.
