Kaitlyn has left WWE.

WWE confirmed that Kaitlyn (born Celeste Bonin) has left the company as of today, January 8.

The company wrote, “As of Jan. 8, Kaitlyn (Celeste Bonin) will no longer be under contract with WWE. The former Divas Champion has chosen to pursue other endeavors outside the sports-entertainment world. WWE wishes Kaitlyn the best in all her future endeavors.”

Kaitlyn confirmed the departure on her Twitter account today as well, citing that she left WWE on her own terms in order to pursue new opportunities.

She joined WWE in July 2010 and was entered in the third season of NXT as a last minute replacement for the gargantuan Aloise. Despite her near total lack of wrestling experience, Kaitlyn ended up winning the competition.

After winning NXT she joined the SmackDown brand and formed the Chickbusters tag team with her NXT “bestie” AJ Lee. She eventually moved up the ranks of the women’s division and challenged for the Divas Championship numerous times throughout 2012. She finally defeated Eve Torres on the 20th Anniversary edition of RAW in her hometown of Houston, Texas to win the Championship.

She feuded with Tamina Snuka and then raged in a long bitter feud with her former friend AJ, finally losing the Divas Championship to AJ at the Payback '13 pay per view. After their rivalry ended at SummerSlam '13, Kaitlyn faded into the background and was used primarily in an enhancement role.

Her last WWE match aired tonight, Wednesday, January 8. She lost in a one-on-one bout to her old frenemy AJ Lee on The Main Event.

Prior to joining WWE in 2010, she competed successfully in body fitness competitions.
