Kaitlyn Hunt is back in jail after violating the no contact order by texting and meeting with her underage girlfriend. Support for Hunt is dwindling, but there is still a large group of fiercely loyal supporters fighting for her on social media. A member asked supporters on the “Free Kate” Facebook page to keep donating to Kaitlyn’s Go Fund Me campaign on Aug. 20.
Eric Schmidt posted that he was shocked the family is still asking for money on Aug. 21. He urged supporters to look at the facts of the case.
Schmidt’s message was deleted by administrators just one minute after he posted it.
Administrators are under strict orders by Kate Hunt’s parents to immediately remove posts containing any “unsupportive” content. Reminders of the “support only” rule are made near daily. Kaitlyn’s mother, Kelley Hunt Smith, has a sticky post at the top of the page ordering anyone who is not in support of Kate and the cause to remove themselves from the page.
Here is the post by Schmidt that was removed.
I am shocked this family is STILL asking for money. I supported her until this latest news came out. Consequently, I did some research on this case, and looked into the other side of the coin. I'm not here to troll, or convince. I just felt the need to show my outrage in me being doopped into giving this family my hard earned money. I'm sorry, but Kate was stupid in not taking the generous deal of 150 hours of community service and a clean record. I am a gay male who is dating someone who is 10 years younger, so I know what it is like. I'm sorry, but you thumb your nose at the law, you will get burned. Court order is a court order is a court order. We cannot just pick and choose which law we wish to follow or not follow -- if we did, society will break down. Also, from the latest facts, sadly Kate does fit the profile of a sexual predator. I suggest ALL of you reexamine your support of this issue. That being said, I hope Kate gets the help she NEEDS. I also wish her the best in the future after all this mess is over. I know none of us are perfect and we ALL make mistakes, but I just can’t bring myself to support Kate anymore. Sorry if I have offended anyone.
Many other former “Free Kate” supporters have taken to other forms of social media to express similar views. A poll conducted by Kaitlyn Hunt’s local newspaper revealed that 76% felt she deserved to be in jail.
