Kaepernicking: letting your life reflect God's glory

Colin Kaepernick of the San Francisco 49ers is letting his life shine his way to reflect God’s glory. Can it really be that simple?

Last year it was Linsanity and how Jeremy Lin displayed his moment his way to demonstrate what God’s plan for his life meant for him. Now another young man is using tattoos to exalt a faith in God and a firm belief that God has a plan for him in spite of the odds and circumstances.

There have been some clueless individuals that attempted to spin their take on why Kaepernick uses tattoos, even to the point of trying to equate a criminal element as a basis for displaying the body artwork. That poor analogy received the justified slap-down from a chorus of social network users that disagreed with that miss….by light years.

All one needs to know is to be familiar with the initial tattoo Kaepernick received in Psalm 23 to understand his way of thanking God for the blessings and even the curses that can go along with one’s lifestyle. “Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies” should be enough of Psalm 23 to understand why Kaepernicking is what it is.

It is a rarity to see a young athlete seize the moment and ride the tidal wave as young Colin is currently doing. Leading a professional sports team to the promise land on such short notice and experience? This type of thing just does not happen.

One needs to inspect the attributes acquired by Kaepernick through overcoming obstacles that defined the competitive nature, strong will, and determination to succeed. Colin is an extraordinary symbol to the false standard people attempted to box him into that said, “hey, you aren’t good enough…you lack the skills.”

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” is a biblical verse well played out by this young 25-year old quarterback who has really defied the odds to be in a position to lead the San Francisco 49ers to its 6th Super Bowl championship. Some things transcend sports, and Kaepernick is a story that does supersede the typical life expose.

It’s not very common for a person to wear their faith on a sleeve, but that is exactly what Kaepernick does, in fact he has a whole plethora of tattoos that are symbolic to his faith and persona. It may not be what most would do, but we are talking about someone who breaks the mold of the standard perception of what a quarterback should be doing. It’s nothing negative…just Colin marches to the tune not normally played by an individual that has a spiritual significance guiding his life.

Colin kisses his “Faith” tattoo that has now been described as “Kaepernicking” upon high moments during a football game. He remembers where God has brought him and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Psalm 23 works for him.

There are many claiming Christianity; be it a church or individual. But there are far few that actually practice Christianity. Just because there is a cross on the front of the building doesn't mean it's a "Christian" church or organization. Jesus Christ warned that "many shall come in My Name...
