In Kabbalah we decide between following the good inclination, the Yetzer Tov and the evil inclination or the Yetzer Hara. This is a choice that comes upon us each day in regards to what we are thinking about. Our thoughts determine the course of action we will take and therefore making that decision within makes all the difference without.

Our connection with holiness can in fact be measured by this decision in that the more we choose the right way the more connection we do experience. This connection comes in the forms of being in the right place at the right time, having the right thoughts and sharing the right actions all along the way.
There the power in the sky
To know the reason is why
We move from here to there.
Never wondering where.
This is analogous to a sports figure who reports being ‘in the zone’ and having one of their best performance days. This ‘zone’ is after all our connection above and this allows us to let go into that connection more less playing on autopilot allowing our natural reflexes to take over. These natural reflexes come about through the work we do in studying Torah grooving the inner channels of learning so that when it comes time for simple living the way is immediately prepared before us.
It is in this preparation of the way that all of thought depends upon. Without this preparation uncertainty arises which produces then that Yetzer Hara wherein we choose incorrectly. Therefore one of the purposes of prayer is to provide a place for our thoughts to rest upon rather then seeking random associations that may or may not lead to connection the daily prayers serve as that ‘preparation of the way’ along with all of our other studies that we undertake with the same intention in mind. It is through the realization of this holy connection then that our way becomes continuously prepared before us.
Life that brings its full reflection
Upon thee thy total connection
Coming to the place within
Where thy treasures begin
The sequence of this preparation of the way continuously before us may be seen in the Sephiros that take that intention from the germ of an idea into the fullness of its expression. Studying these Sephiros in this manner gives us a way to track our progress all along the way allowing for course corrections if necessary and also the addition of an increase in momentum to help us past the temporary blockages that may occur. These blockages happen anytime the road seems to curve or fork and it becomes more important than ever to hold to the original intention to keep us on our intended course.
When you follow a thought from its initial inception to its expressed completion this thought lights up the inner sky. In doing so it becomes a beacon, an example for all other thoughts that may come after. A mind that is awakened to its holy connection is on fire with love for Hashem because the closer we become to that holiness that greater we are basked in its glow.
For everywhere thy wisdom flows
Within thy heart my souls who knows
Watches for thy purpose revealed
Awakened whereas before concealed
