Hod (“Splendor” ) is the Eight Sefira, and the Eight Paths of the Thirty-Two Paths of Wisdom. It is directly across from Netzach, and beneath Geburah, forming the base of the Left-Hand Pillar of Severity on the Tree of Life. Another translation of Hod is "Glory".
The Eighth Path is Named the Completed Intelligence (Sekhel Shalem םלש לכש), because it is the Ancient Design, which has no root through which it can be pondered except in the Secret Chambers of Greatness, which emanate from the Essence of its Existence.
Netzach and Hod form the third and final pair of Sefiroth. After (and below) this level, Duality merges into the Oneness of the homogenized Material World. Let’s look at the Fifth Day of Creation in Genesis, shall we? What did God do on Thursday?
And Elohim created the great sea monsters, and every living creature that crawls, with which the waters swarmed, according to their kind, and every winged fowl, according to its kind, and Elohim saw that it was good.
And Elohim blessed them, saying, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters of the seas, and let the fowl multiply upon the earth."
And it was evening, and it was morning, a fifth day.
It might be interesting to note, that we are back to [BETH RESH ALEF] again, perhaps because we have returned to the Left-Hand Pillar. This would mean a direct Act of Creation. Conversely, it must be noted that the sequence of this section is not that dissimilar from Modern Evolution Theory; Life, according to Science, began in the Seas.
The Angels of Hod are the B’nei Elohim (“Sons of God”), the Archangel is Michael, whose Name is a question, “Who is like God?”, the Name of God is Elohim Tzabaoth (“God Almighty of the Armies”), and the Planet is Mercury, Named after the Greek Messenger God. Note that Hermes-Mercury is depicted carrying the Cadeuceus, /symbol of the Kundalini.
Hod relates to the Wind Principle in Nova Thought, and the Chakra is the fourth one, the Heart or Anahata ("Unconquered"), and the Weekday is Wednesday (Odin's Day), the fourth Day, and The Number is One, and the Elder Futhark Runes are Ansuz, Wunjo, Berkano, Sacred to Odin, King of the Gods, Baldur, his most beloved son, and Idunna, Guardianess of Immortality. The Character is the Messenger.
The Eight of Wands is Hod in Atsilut, and deals with rapid movement and change. The movement to a new location may involve an act of Will.
The Eight of Cups, as Hod in Beriah, has to do with moving on in an emotional sense. There is a Time for leaving the Past behind, and also, for Forgiveness.
The Eight of Swords is Hod in Yetzirah. The usual indication in a Reading has to do with a lack of focus or confusion. The usual intellectual focus of the Sword Suit is blurred, and choices are not obvious.
The Eight of Disks is Hod in Assiah. The intended Goal can indeed be attained, but there is hard Work to be done to accomplish it.
An Affirmation for Hod might be:
“I am advancing in knowledge and understanding, and am proceeding on the Path to Attainment of all my goals.”
