People sometimes go to great lengths to stay physically fit, and much has been written about the health benefits of dog ownership. Taking that concept a step further, K9 Fit Club is the nation's first indoor workout facility designed specifically for people and their dogs. With clubs across the country, they recently announced a new partnership with Petplan Pet Insurance.
According to their recent press release, K9 Fit Club hopes to raise awareness of the under-insured nature of American pets. They report that to date, just 1% of the nation's 93 million cats and 3% of the nation's 83 million dogs are currently insured (compared to about 30% in the UK).
What pet insurance does is alleviate the worry that an unexpected illness or accident might cause financial stress at a time when a pet needs treatment most.
Petplan policies cover all accidents and injuries, including hereditary and chronic conditions as standard, and without additional fees or add-ons.
K9 Fit Club was developed from the experiences of founder, Tricia Montgomery. During her tenure as the Executive Director for the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association, she formulated a weight loss and exercise plan for her personal use. After losing over 130 pounds, Ms. Montgomery recognized the need and opportunity for a formal nationwide program of health, fitness, and wellness designed around people and dogs.
