Canadian hip hop artist k-os (pronounced Chaos) is set to take stage Saturday, October 16th at Chaser’s Nightclub in Scottsdale as part of his first North American Tour which kicked off last week in Vancouer, BC. This Toronto native, whose given name is Kheaven Brereton has caused quite a stir in Canada, and now is making his debut in the continental US. His 19 date tour will promote his new release, Anchorman Mixtape, featuring 10 brand new tracks, with collaborations with Drake and fellow Canadian artist Sebastian Grainger of Death from Above 1979. This album has sound clips from the humorous Will Ferrell movie Anchorman, which transitions smoothly into lyrical hip hop and somehow the blend are blended really well together. Despite the connotations of today’s hip hop scene representing sexism and violence, k-os tries to bring back what hip hop used to be about. This rapper and soulful thinker also works with many non-profits to benefit our youth and our future on this Earth. He is a contemplative man, soft spoken, intelligent, and articulate, which is well reflected from his upbringing—his father was a minister. He will be joined onstage by Shad (rapper) and Astronautalis (Italian pop). Tickets can be purchased at local Zia Record Stores, Eastside (Tempe), and Stinkweeds.
