Campbell Soup Company is going to have K-Cup soup packs available in the near future, according to ABC News on Thursday. The K-Cups are being designed to work with Green Mountain’s extremely popular single-serve coffee machines which are beginning to include other products as hot cocoa as well.
The idea is to have a K-Cup pack of soup broth which will be brewed over a packet of dry pasta and vegetables. Next year, Campbell Soup Company will offer chicken broth and noodle.
For those concerned about the flavor of soup mixing with coffee and vice versa, Green Mountain spokespersons say not to worry. The machines are said to be designed so that the system is cleansed by the brewing process, making it impossible for the flavors to intertwine.
The K-Cup is the latest initiative of the Campbell Soup Company to revive lackluster sales in the past. They have recently redesigned their labels and types of soups to attract younger people to its products. Far beyond its traditional product of canned soup, in recent years, the company has added “Go” soups and soup pouches that can be prepared in the microwave.
