Juventus FC extended their lead in Serie A this weekend after playing round 28. Both teams trailing the leader, Napoli and Lazio, lost their weekend game, letting Juventus escape with more points.
ESPN Soccernet reported on Sunday afternoon that Juventus won their round 28 game against 8th place Catania, final score was 1-0. Juventus played at home and dominated the game with shot and ball control convincingly.
However, Juve, despite total dominion of the game, only managed to score a goal in stoppage time in the second half. The goal was scored by Emuanele Giaccherini.
The victory gave the defending champs a nice boost in the table of Serie A. Now, Juve has 62 points total which is nine more than second place Napoli, 53 points.
There are only ten games left in the Italian soccer season, and this victory was a major stride for Juventus FC. As for Napoli and Lazio, who are the two teams trailing, lost their respective game, thus giving Juve a better chance to repeat the title.
