In Clearwater, police have identified a suspect in a shooting that left a man badly injured Friday.

A juvenile criminal defendant, 16 years old, brandished a gun and shot an adult male during a fight that took place Friday afternoon just outside a child care center at the corner of a Clearwater area, police said.

The suspect shot the victim, who has not been identified and was airlifted to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to the Clearwater Police Department. As of last Sunday the victim was still being treated.

The juvenile criminal suspect, who has a nickname of "Jersey" is believed to be armed and a possible gang member. His whereabouts were unknown at the time of this writing.
