“This is really a special video for me because it's a tribute to my grandparents,” he said in his acceptance speech. “My grandfather actually passed in December. I hope my grandmother's watching. This is for you, Granny.”
Timberlake was also awarded the 'Michael Jackson Vanguard' award by Jimmy Fallon, who referred to the singer as the “President of Pop”. Despite the crowd chanting his name, Justin made sure to thank the other members of N'Sync.
“Half the moon man that I ever won, I won with those four guys right there,” Timberlake professed of his band mates. The former boy band performed together for the first time in a decade, making women around the globe hope for a reunion tour.
“I want to share this award with them. This is truly an honor. Thank you so much,” he concluded.
Timberlake performed a “greatest hits” of the past ten years in a performance that mirrored Beyonce's from the Superbowl earlier this year. He sang his new single “Take Back the Night” from his next album, “The 20/20 Experience – 2 of 2”, out Sept. 30.
