Justin Timberlake's "20/20 Experience" album was best selling album of 2013 with 2.43 million albums sold according to Billboard. Timberlake took a hiatus from music and his return to music was one of the bigger news of 2013. It helped his album propel to the number one spot with almost a million units sold in the first week.
"20/20 Experience" was only the second album to sell under 3 million since SoundScan started keeping track in 1991. Lil Wayne's "The Carter III" was the only other album to sell under 3 million. Timberlake's album is the only album to sell over 2 million units this year.
Eminem' "The Marshall Mathers LP 2" trailed Timberlake for the second most albums sold in 2013 with 1.73 million. His album came near the end of the year and is still moving strong. Slim Shady's last album "Recovery" sold the most albums in 2010 with 3.41 million.
Drake's "Nothing Was the Same" was the seventh best selling album in 2013 with 1.34 million. Beyonce's self titled album was the eight best selling album with 1.3 million. She was the highest selling women in 2013. Katy Perry is the second most selling women with just under a million albums sold.
Sales fell by 8 percent compared to 2012. Physical CD sales declined by 14 percent and digital sales also declined by 1 percent. Vinyl records saw an increase in sales. In 2013, more vinyl records were sold than in any other year.
