On Sept. 17, Centric TV revealed its list of 2013 Soul Train Award nominees. While Kendrick Lamar leads the pack with a total of six nominations, Justin Timberlake, Robin Thicke, Chris Brown, Miguel and Tamar Braxton are close behind with five noms each. With this latest news, the 2013 Soul Train Awards show is shaping up to be one huge TV event in 2013.

Justin Timberlake, who made one of the planet’s best comebacks of all time, is nominated for Best Hip Hop Song of the Year (for “Holy Grail” with Jay-Z), Album of the Year (“The 20/20 Experience”), Song of the Year (“Suit & Tie” with Jay-Z), The Ashford and Simpson Songwriter’s Award (for “Mirrors"), and Best Dance Performance (“Suit & Tie” with Jay-Z).

Robin Thicke, who frolicked with Miley Cyrus during the MTV VMAs last month, received nominations for Song of the Year (“Blurred Lines” with Pharrell and T.I), Best Dance Performance, Video of the Year (“Blurred Lines”), and Best Collaboration (“Blurred Lines” with Pharrell and T.I.).

Chris Brown was nominated for Best R&B/Soul Male Artist, Song of the Year (“Fine China”), Best Dance Performance, Video of the Year, and Best Collaboration (“Put It Down” with Brandy).

Kendrick Lamar leads the pack with a total of six nominations for Best New Artist, Best Hip Hop Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Video of the Year, Best Collaboration, and Song of the Year.

Each fall, the Soul Train Awards celebrates and honors R&B’s finest and most soulful artists. Jam-packed with high energy performances and extraordinary special appearances, it’s a highly anticipated annual TV event and R&B’s biggest night of the year.

In 2013, the Soul Train Awards will tape on Nov. 8 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. "We are thrilled to bring the Soul Train Awards back to Las Vegas with a star-studded lineup that honors and celebrates icons and break-through artists alike,” said Paxton Baker, General Manager and Executive Vice President of Centric TV. Actor and comedian Anthony Anderson will serve as this year’s host. “We rolled the dice and hit the jackpot with Anthony as host and are excited to see what magical moments he will bring to the Orleans Arena during this year’s Soul Train Awards,” Baker added. Anderson was recently tapped to host NBC’s upcoming family trivia series “Wall of Fame.” He previously entertained fans as the star of “Guys with Kids” and captivated audiences while playing Detective Kevin Bernard on NBC’s Emmy Award-winning drama "Law & Order.”

The 2013 Soul Train Awards will air at 9 p.m. EST and PST on Sunday, Dec. 1 on Centric TV. According to CBS News, performers and presenters will be announced soon. Last year’s TV event featured dynamite performances by Stevie Wonder, Fantasia and Ne-Yo. Beyoncé, Miguel and Tyrese were the big winners.
