Justin Timberlake seemed to take a swipe at ex girlfriend Britney Spears when he performed at Saturday night’s pre-Super Bowl gala in New Orleans. Justin said, “Sometimes in life, you think you found the one. But then one day you find out, that she is just some bitch!”, according to Hollywood Life yesterday. Timberlake, 32, made the comment just before launching into his hit “Cry Me a River”. That song is widely believed to be about his relationship and breakup with 31 year-old fellow Mouseketeer Britney Spears, who allegedly cheated on him with choreographer Wade Robson.
But today, Access Hollywood is reporting that Justin Timberlake is shooting down reports that he slammed Britney Spears during his performance at Saturday’s DirecTV Super Bowl concert.
“Ok. I see you. Wouldn’t disrespect ANYONE personally. Ever. #Relax #ItsBritneyBitch I do love that saying though*with accent* #Respect”, Justin tweeted.
The “Suit & Tie” singer, who is now married to actress Jessica Biel, spoke about his relationship with Britney Spears in a June 2011 interview with Vanity Fair. “I wish her the best - that goes without saying. We haven’t spoken in nine or ten years”, Justin said.
“We were two birds of the same feather - small-town kids, doing same thing. But when you become adults, and the way you were as kids doesn’t make any sense. I won’t speak on her, but at least for me, I was a totally different person”, Timberlake went on to say at the time.
Justin wanted to clear the air before the Super Bowl got under way as social media blew up over what many perceived to be a direct hit at Spears. A rep for Timberlake claimed innocent stage banter was simply taken out of context.
