Whether you think his music is 'real' country or not, Justin Moore is certainly at the top of his game with his latest album, "Off the Beaten Path," which has carved out a fantastic opening chart position. It reached No. 1 on Billboard’s country albums chart upon its release, and at a respectable No. 2 on the all genres Billboard chart. It did so with sales of 96,730 units, based upon Nielsen SoundScan’s figures.
Of course, it doesn’t hurt that Moore has country music’s reigning queen, Miranda Lambert, singing with him on “Old Habits,” or that the legendary Charlie Daniels helps him out with “For Some Ol’ Redneck Reason.” Moore told The Boot: “I heard this and for whatever reason, I said, ‘Man, I’ve got to get Miranda on this,’” he says. “I called her and sent it to her, and she was busy and didn’t have time to get back to me.” Moore didn’t give up on this dream duet, though, and called Miranda Lambert back in an attempt to persuade her. “And she calls me back like three minutes later, she goes, ‘Holy crap, it’s a great song,’” he recalls. “I said, ‘Yeah, I told you.’”
With such fantastic out-of-the-box sales figures, it won’t be long before Justin Moore is also one of the top dogs in mainstream country music. You better keep an eye on Mr. Moore.
