Justin Lofton, whose racing focus has primarily been on stadium trucks this year, willr eturn to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series to drive the No. 6 Chevrolet of Sharp-Gallaher Racing at Bristol (Ten.) Motor Speedway on Aug. 21. Lofton plans to complete in eight of the final 10 Truck Series races this season. A ninth may be added if sponsorship is found for the season-finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway in November. The other race Lofton is currently not schedule to run is the Sept. 1 race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
"I'm pumped to get back in the No. 6 SGR Chevrolet, as that's been my home the past few years," Lofton said. "Because of the limited schedule, we are not racing for championship points, but we will be racing for wins. I know (truck owner) Eddie (Sharp) and the team are ready to run the No. 6 on a consistent basis, and I'm thrilled to be back in NASCAR competition."
Lofton has drivent he No. 6 in two previous races this season -- the season-opener at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway in February and at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway in May. He posted top-10 finishes in both races, finishing fourth at Daytona and 10th at Charlotte.
Lofton's relationship with SGR, formerly Eddie Sharp Racing, traces back to the ARCA Racing Series. Together, they won the ARCA championship in 2009. He raced full-time in the Truck Series for Sharp as recently as 2012.
"Justin is on top of his game, and we couldn't be happier to have him back where he belongs," Sharp said. "Justin and the Loftons are like family, so when we needed to but someone in the No. 6 he was clearly our go-to driver."
